Cable Modem Or FIOS. (Dial up or DSL a big waste of time.) Explanation: Almost all Office application are close to 1gb each. I have Comcast 'Blast' cable service capable of Download speed 40 MBps or better if light load such as night time. Still takes better part of 2 hours to Download and then install the complete package of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Onenote Opinion: It's my opinion with today's application sizes, it will take a Mac with 16 GB System RAM, and a Minimum 1 to 2 TB Hard Drive (possibly a SSD) to keep up. And will you need a very high speed Cable or FOIS Connection. By next year, I figure applications will need 32 to 64 to 128 GB RAM just to keep up. The problem is Technology keeps changing and as more RAM at reasonable Prices come on market, Software developers do everything in their power use it all up. Not taking into account That the computer OS has got to have some room to work thus cause bits of code to have to be paged onto hard drive on what is called a scratch Disk.

Then out of scratch disk when needed. If not enough room is left for scratch disk operation then things slow down, and crashes occur because items can't be switched in and out fast enough. I am already running into this with my MacBook Pro 17' with 8GB RAM and 500 GB Hard Drive I am now up to only 100 GB of 500 GB left. And Office Products take up to 2 -3 minutes to start be they 2011 or 2016. Back when my Computer was new and I purchased 2011, any Office application would come up and be ready at the blink of an eye or faster.
